Substance use evaluations assess patterns of alcohol or drug use and the degree to which substance use may be contributing to behavioral, legal, or interpersonal difficulties. These evaluations may incorporate standardized screening instruments designed to evaluate frequency of use, potential dependency concerns, and risk of relapse.

Substance use evaluations are often requested for:

• probation or diversion program requirements

• court-related substance use concerns

• workplace or licensing issues

• family law matters where substance use may impact parenting

These assessments may also explore the interaction between substance use and other mental health conditions, as addiction frequently occurs alongside anxiety, depression, trauma-related conditions, or other behavioral health concerns.
