Educational and Academic Services

Health insurance will cover the cost of most of these services

Success in school depends on more than intelligence. Children and adolescents may struggle academically because of ADHD, anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorders, executive functioning deficits, behavioral concerns, or other mental health conditions that interfere with attention, organization, motivation, emotional regulation, and learning.

Greater Atlanta Family Counseling provides individualized, one-on-one services designed to identify these barriers and help students develop the skills needed to succeed both in school and at home. Because these services are integrated into a behavioral health treatment plan, many may be covered by health insurance when medically necessary.

Our services include:

  • ADHD evaluations and treatment

  • Executive functioning coaching

  • Organization, planning, and time management

  • Study skills and academic success coaching

  • School-related anxiety and school refusal treatment

  • Behavioral interventions for attention and classroom success

  • Emotional regulation and coping skills

  • Parent coaching and behavior management strategies

  • School consultation and collaboration

  • Documentation and recommendations for Section 504 accommodations

  • Coordination with pediatricians, psychiatrists, schools, and other providers, when appropriate

Our clinicians work collaboratively with families to understand each child's strengths and challenges while developing practical strategies that promote independence, confidence, and long-term academic success. Rather than simply helping students complete assignments, we focus on treating the behavioral health concerns that interfere with learning and teaching lifelong skills that improve performance across school, home, and community settings.
