Adoption Mediation
Adoption mediation is a confidential, voluntary process where a neutral third party assists birth parents, adoptive parents, and other involved parties in resolving issues related to the adoption process. The goal is to facilitate open communication, clarify expectations, and help all parties reach mutually agreeable solutions without the need for contentious legal battles.
Adoption mediation can address a variety of concerns, such as:
Establishing or modifying open adoption contact agreements
Resolving disputes about visitation or communication between birth and adoptive families
Addressing concerns related to the child’s welfare and ongoing support
Facilitating agreements on post-adoption services or counseling
Navigating conflicts that arise before, during, or after the adoption is finalized
Because adoption is often an emotional and complex process involving multiple parties with different needs, mediation provides a safe and supportive environment to discuss sensitive issues respectfully and constructively.
