I've been thinking about beginning counseling but I still have reservations:

The decision to begin counseling is not insignificant. Even thinking about starting counseling indicates a very important first step. There are many factors to consider, including

  • What is the presenting problem or problems?

  • What would you like to achieve by starting counseling?

  • How much time and energy are you prepared to put in?

Also please keep in mind that, depending on the circumstances, achieving the desired results may take months or even years. The relationship between the client and the clinician is critically important, so you will want to feel comfortable with a therapist before committing to services.

We would also like to emphasize that at times, clients may enter therapy against their will, such as clients who are involved court systems, or parents requiring their children to attend. Greater Atlanta Family Counseling recognizes that building rapport and trust can take time, and we are fully prepared to meet these clients with patience and understanding.
